Driving down the road and from the corner of my eye I see a flash of vivid yellow color close to the ground. "Aha!" I chortle loudly. "Chicken of the woods!"

Shortly thereafter I approach on foot, knife in hand.
Beautiful, absolutely prime Laetiporus sulphureus.
Young, beautiful, tender. Never before found it so early in its growth.
I took some, left the rest to grow a little while longer. Was advised that younger is better. Went back the very next morning and you know what - someone else had taken all the remaining mushrooms! Ah well, there's always next year.
